Community celebration planned for 50th anniversary of Seattle’s Discovery Park

SEATTLE — A variety of free, family-friendly activities are scheduled to take place at Discovery Park on Saturday as Seattle Parks and Recreation and other community organizations come together to commemorate the park’s 50th anniversary.

A full day of activities is planned, including guided walks, a beach cleanup event and a formal ceremony with speakers such as Mayor Bruce Harrell, City Councilmember Andrew Lewis and Leonard Forsman, chairman of the Suquamish Tribe.

Free shuttle buses will also be provided so community members can easily travel throughout the park during the festivities.

A complete schedule and a map of all the activities is available here.
