FAQ
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

What is the difference between the play session types?
There are two types of play sessions offered for JCPS Family Day. One is for the Play Lounge, which caters to children age 6/kindergarten and younger. The other is in our community classroom and will be set up for elementary school children grades K through 5. You may book your kindergartener for the session you feel is most appropriate for their age. You can read about our Play Lounge space here.

What if I have two elementary aged students but they want to be in different play spaces?
That’s fine! You can schedule your K kid for the Play Lounge, and your older child for the Community Classroom. In that scenario, you would be required to stay in the Play Lounge with your younger child while your older child participates independently.

Can I bring my younger, non-JCPS children?
Yes! If you have a JCPS child and younger siblings who are not in JCPS, you may book a spot for each of your children. As long as you’re bringing at least one JCPS student, you can book spots for your younger children as well.

Who is responsible for supervising the children?
In the Play Lounge (K and younger), parents are required to stay and supervise their children. We have plenty of seating available for parents, as well as free wifi and power outlets at each booth. In the Community Classroom, children may participate in unsupervised play, but parents/caregivers must stay at the cafe for the duration of the session and may not leave the premises. We have seating available in the cafe for parents/caregivers of K-5 children.

How do I book a spot?
Reserve one spot per child below.

Is this free?
Play sessions for JCPS Family Day are free and have been paid for by State Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong and State Representative Josie Raymond.

Can I bring outside food or drink?
No. We are a coffee shop and bakery, and have food and drinks available for purchase in our cafe. No outside food is permitted. Food and drink is not included in the cost of the play session and it is up to each individual to pay for their own food and drink.

    • We allow a maximum of 16 children per play session in The Play Lounge and a maximum of 8 children in The Butterfly Room. This is for the comfort of our guests and the number of seats we have available in the play lounge and cafe.

    • You may not book all spots in a session. This is considered a private play date. If you are interested in booking a private play date, please reach out via this form.

    • Two adults per household/family are permitted on your reservation and do not need to be paid for. If you would like to bring additional adults, please reserve a space for them in the form of a play session, i.e. both parents are coming, but you want to bring the grandparents too, you would reserve 2 extra play sessions for the grandparents.

    • Please reserve one ticket per child. One child under 12 months is free with a paid sibling in The Play Lounge. If you have more than one child under 12 months and only one paid child, you will need to pay for and reserve spots for those children.
