Roads roundup

The rules of the road have shifted in a few spots around town due to ongoing or just-completed projects. We thought we'd give you an, ahem, road map of some biggies:

πŸ›‘ Cherrybark Drive off Rosemont Garden is scheduled to reopen by Saturday, Aug. 22 after an extended closure for major utility work. A four-way stop has also been added at Southport and Rosemont, near the Good Foods Co-op.

🚦 A busy intersection on Versailles has a new traffic light at the left turn onto the outer loop of New Circle Road, courtesy of the state Transportation Cabinet. It's flashing yellow this week, but will be fully operational on Monday, Aug. 17.

πŸš™ The new roundabout at Wilson Downing is open.

🚧 Fontaine Road... Before you ask, we feel your pain. Kentucky American Water officials have said they will keep the neighborhood informed of progress on this major utility project via door knockers and direct communication. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has asked for a public meeting.
How bad is Lex traffic?

Film

Good music

Railbird may be the biggest name in music festivals around town, but Laurel Cove Music Festival in Pineville is where the city's music insiders head after the hordes depart. A new documentary, "Where the Mountains Sing," from director Michael Holstein goes deep on the 1400-seat festival and the region's culture.

The film's crew also drew from our growing film community here. Now the team behind the doc is holding a charity auction to benefit Americans Helping Americans and Mountain Ways. Several items caught our eye:Bids close Aug. 31 at 10 p.m.

We can't wait to see the movie β€” a premiere and Q&A screening events, including in Lexington, will be announced in coming months + the film will hit streaming in January.

The Buy

The Buy Editor Emily here. For me, August is all about soaking up every last bit of summer while getting a head start on fall. My wishlist is a little all over the place, with a mix of end-of-summer upgrades and "let's get ready for cooler weather" finds. These are the items at the top of my list this month:

πŸ‘– A pair of wide-leg palazzo pants β€” light enough for summer, but perfect for the transition into fall.
πŸ‘š Another great summer-to-fall transition piece: this sleeveless sweater vest with a chic scalloped hem.
🌱 These best-selling cooling face masks to rehydrate and soothe my sun-exposed skin.
πŸ‘œ A classic Kate Spade carryall bag β€” currently 63% off β€” that's destined to become my go-to once my coastal-chic summer bag goes into hibernation.
🍨 A mini ice cream maker so that the taste of summer never ends.
Plus, a No. 1 best-selling lightweight cardigan

The Wrap

Speaking of music, I'd be remiss not to put a hot show this Friday, Aug. 14 on your radar. The Green Lantern plays host to The Magpies' "The First Waltz" release show. Among the announced musical guests are Scott T. Smith, Abby Hamilton, Ella Webster, and Charlie Overman. Five bucks gets you in + the first drink is on the band.
